<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ink jet ink composition which has excellent long-term storage stability and can give an image excellent in water resistance by mixing a dye whose anion moiety develops a color with a specified water-soluble cationic polymer, an acid and water. SOLUTION: This composition essentially consists of 0.5-20wt.%, based on the total weight of the composition, dye whose anion moiety develops a color, 0.5-20wt.% water-soluble cationic polymer comprising repeating units represented by the formula (R<1> and R<2> are each H or a 1 or 2C alkyl; R<4> and R<5> are each H, a 1-3C alkyl or a 1-3C hydroxyalkyl; and n is 0 or 1) and having an average molecular weight of 300-10,00, an acid necessary to adjust the pH to 5-11.5 and water. When this composition, which is a pigment-containing water base ink composition, is used in combination with an ink composition containing a different-color anion dispersed pigment, it is effectively prevented from bleeding.</p> |
