The device has a transport mechanism (1) for the material (10) under investigation, a heat source (3) for heating the material under investigation and a spectrometer (2) with which at least one chemical is detected in the material and/or the conc. of the material measured. The transport mechanism conveys the material continuously and consists of a conveyor belt and/or a worm transport mechanism. The heat source is matched to certain chemicals to be investigated and can consist of an oven and/or an infrared source.
