In order to obtain a simple circuit design for a high-precision measuring device (1a, 1b) current and voltage signals (I and U) of a consumer (2) are fed to a multiplexer (3) and multiplied with each other after digitization. To compensate external phase angle errors, various waiting cycles (ti, tu) are produced between the current value and the voltage value (I and U) in the digital signal. The invention provides a measuring device (1a, 1b) and a process therefor. The invention is preferably to be used in electricity meters.
