The method involves constructing a concrete slab (2), which has humps under the rails to support rail fasteners. When the slab emerges from the fabricator, the surface height of the humps exceeds the target height by an amount corresponding to the manufacturing tolerance of the fabricator. The fabricator is intermittently followed by an appliance, which removes the top layer of a hump, which has not yet hardened, by mechanical means, e.g. scraping, etc., to slightly above the target height. The hump surface is then pressed etc. by a plate, until the target height is achieved to give a level support for the rail fastener. |
