Serial hybrid drive esp. for bus-drive system

The drive uses at least one braking resistance (R1,R2) supplied by each drive motor during braking, two inverters (U1,U2) on the generator side connected before an intermediate DC circuit (P;N) and two inverters (U3,U4) connected after it, each contg. a three-phase current inverter (B1.1,..B2.3.; B3.1,...B4.3). Switching elements of each two bridge arms of each three-phase current inverter on the generator side are used for AC to DC conversion of the generator current in motor drive mode. Switching elements the remaining bridge arms of each three-phase current inverter on the generator side are used for brake actuation in braking mode.
