Hydrogen peroxide free hair bleach

A composition (I) with a pH of 7-11.5, for bleaching human hair, contains: (A) 0.1-30 wt.% of at least one alkaline earth metal peroxide ; and (B) at least one (in)organic acid. A method for bleaching hair is also claimed, involving mixing 20-70 g of (I) with water (or aqueous solution of (in)organic acid) in a ratio of 2:1 to 1:5, applying the obtained bleach to the hair, leaving for 10-80 minutes at 10-50 deg C, rinsing with water, optionally shampooing and drying.
