The body forms a tunnel, resting on and welded to a tunnel stiffener, and has a front curved extension, welded to a front end wall. In a front section, the bottom extension (6) only rests on the tunnel stiffener, and is not welded to it. The extension is welded (13) to the stiffener (2) and the vehicle bottom (1), near its rear edge only. The extension has a bead in a section directed upwards towards the end wall (7), the bead extending at right angles to the longitudinal vehicle direction.
