The method involves using a circuit device (1) connected to at least one optical sensor (2) for a non-contact controlled toilet flush with an electrically controllable valve (5) for switching water on and off. The device has an amplifier (11) connected after the sensor and a transmission generator (8). An analysis circuit (10) obtains control signals for the valve. The measurement values from the sensor in a fixed time interval are measured with a sensitivity adjustment of the device. The sensitivity of the device is increased to a fixed value while the sensor measures no use of the flush during a fixed time interval. The device sensitivity is reduced back to its start value as soon as the sensor detects use of the flush.
