The low-noise gear pump comprises a central body (2) with conventional end covers which has two bores housing two gears (3) and (4) in constant mesh. A drive shaft (5) and driven shaft run on bearings (7) set into the pump body. Two radial bores (12) each house a Belleville spring (13) and a ball (14) which is thus caused to bear onto the peripheral surface of the shaft (5). The mechanical loading serves to ensure continuous contact between the teeth of the gear wheels while pumping.
