Axial impeller for cooling motor vehicle IC engine

The blower comprises a fan with radial vanes (11) joined at their tips by a ring (42) and with the fan driven by an electric motor in the centre of the fan. The motor mounting has radial struts (23) between the motor and an outer fixed ring (21) with the struts having an aerodynamic shape to reduce fan noise. The strut profile has a teardrop shape and is angled to the axial direction. The struts can be curved or straight. Their radial spacing can be varied eg. with a closer spacing in the main load support direction. The power feed to the fan motor is positioned in a duct in one of the struts.
