The sewing or embroidery machine has an electronic control (3) with a micro computer (9) with at least one input (4) to give the manner of working by the machine (1) and the user's access authorisation. The electronic control (3) has at least one random access memory (RAM) (10) with stored data for the various types of working by the sewing machine related to the access authorisation. The RAM (10) is controlled by the micro computer (9) so that the type of working and the access authorisation can be set and altered at the input (4).
