The apparatus generates radiation recordings. The device has a beam source, an associated aperture device and a recording medium. It also has an arrangement (6,7,8) for generating at least one device specific and/or component specific marking or data identification which is automatically associated with a recording generated or to be generated. The marking or data identification generator is preferably arranged in the beam path (4) running from the beam source to the recording medium. The generator may be provided on the aperture device (1) bounding the edges of the beam path (4).
