Observation apparatus for ophthalmic use

The ophthalmological observation apparatus (1) has an observation system (23) for observing the frontal sections (5,7,9) of the eye. An illumination system (13) has an illuminating beam which is used to shine light onto the cornea (5) of the eye being examined. In the area of the optical axis (11) of the illumination system is a light absorber (25) whose dimensions are smaller compared to the cross-sectional dimension of the illumination beam. The light absorber is arranged on the optical axis of the illumination system externally to an area which is conjunctive with the observation plane (24).
