PURPOSE:To obtain ink jet cloth having high color forming properties by adding an alkali generating agent to cloth containing a cellulosic fiber and setting the respective pH values in a room temp. atmosphere, a heated steam atmosphere of 100 deg.C and a heated atmosphere of 120 deg.C to specific ranges. CONSTITUTION:After an alkali generating agent is applied to cloth containing cellulosic fiber, the cloth is dried at low temp. of below 100 deg.C while the pH thereof is suppressed to 8.5 or less. Next, ink composed of a reaction dye is applied to the cloth according to an ink jet system and, thereafter, the cloth is heat-treated to raise the pH thereof to 9.5 or more to fix the dye. The pref. alkali generating agent is represented by formula I (wherein X1 - X3 is hydrogen or halogen and at least one of them is halogen selected from Cl and Br and M is Na or K). The application amount of the alkali generating agent is pref. 2 - 15% by wt. of the cloth. |
