PURPOSE:To obtain hexagonal system ferrite powder having narrow particle size distribution by a method wherein a component, where the hexagonal ferrite shown by a specific formula will be formed, and a component in which R2O.B2O3 and AO.B2O3 are formed and having the mol ratio selected by a specific formula, are mixed and melted, and a heat treatment is conducted thereon. CONSTITUTION:The component, with which the hexagonal system ferrite shown by the separately mentioned formula I will be formed, and their component consisting of R2OB2O3 (R is at least one element selected from Li, Na, K, Rb and Cs) and AO.B2O3 are formed, and they are mixed and melted with the component whose mol ratio becomes the separately mentioned formula II. The above-mentioned materials are cooled quickly, and after they have been brought into an amorphous state, they are washed, and hexagonal ferrite powder is extracted. In the formula I, A indicates at least one element selected from Ba, Sr, Ca and Pb, and M indicates at least one element selected from Co, Ti, In, Ni, Cu, Zn, V, Ta, Al, Cr, Sb, Hf, Mo, W, Ir and Sr in the form of 5.0<=n6.5, 0.02<=x<=0.24. |
