The sensor (7-11) emits signals indicating energy or power losses caused by clutch slippage and indicated by a meter or accumulator. The energy losses caused by the clutch slipping are continually totalled, and the total compared with a pre-set amount regularly leading to a total wear of the clutch. The sensor picks up rotational speed differences between the clutch's (2) input and output and for the clutch torque transmitted through slippage. The clutch is positioned between the engine (1) and a gear (4). The sensor comprises an engine control (7), and a transmitter arrangement (10,11) for the rotational speed of the clutch's output.
