Connector for flat cable

The connector has at least one insulating connector housing (13) of a ready-made flat electric cable and flat cable conductors are embedded in the insulation that lies freely on at least one long side in a contact zone. The connector's housing has a contact window above the contact zone through which contact can be made with the free conductor region. The housing is assembled from at least two parts sandwiching the cable between them, the parts being glued, welded or riveted together or held together with catches. The housing is located at an end of the cable so that a region between the cable end and the contact zone is embedded in the front of the housing.
