<p>The apparatus enables people deprived of hands and arms or of the use of these limbs, to eat and drink by themselves. It comprises an adjustable vertical support (1) capable of being stabilised (2, 3) on a table and adjusted according to the user's position: sitting, lying down or standing. On this support are placed, within reach of the mouth, the receptacles (9, 14, 21, 28) containing the food, prepared, cut up or minced, and the means (6-8, 10-12, 15, 16, 18, 19, 23, 27, 29-35, 37-39, 41, 42, 43-45, 50-56) for bringing them into the mouth in various ways: brought in front of the mouth on automatic skewers; sucked in by means a short and large pipe (23, 27); sliding or flowing form a receptacle overhead (9); by inclining a receptacle (14, 28) pushed by the lips; with a spoon (31) hinged above a trough (28) and actuated by opening the mouth or with the forehead or other means. The apparatus is particularly designed for handicapped people.</p> |
