SENSING APPARATUS FOR COOLING-MATERIAL OF AIRCONDITIONER AND METHOD THEREFOR

A coolant leakage detecting device of air conditioner and control method thereof wherein: the leakage of the coolant within the pipe of an air conditioner is detected by the temperature sensors mounted to the suction and the discharging ports of a compressor and the consumption power sensing means mounted in the motor of the compressor; a two-way valves mounted in the discharging port and the suction port of the compressor are sequentially closed in case of the leakage of the coolant; and the coolant leakage positions are displayed to the outside of outdoor machine by detecting the pressure change in the pipes of indoor and outdoor machine; is disclosed. Thereby, it is possible to identify the leakage of the coolant, to prevent a failure and a damage of the machine and to shorten the repair time.
