<p>A system employing a customizable computer program shell which accesses via a network (88) a variety of photographic images stored in a file directory (98) and also accesses via the network (88) associated information contained in a database (96). The system allows a user to select, via a series of decision steps, a photograph of the desired view of a model, brand and type of equipment which will appear on their computer screen display (10). Once a photograph (44L) is displayed, the system identifies items appearing in the photograph by highlighting the item's name (72-78) and by point to the item on photograph (44L). The system also provides a detailed description (84) for each item identified. The system may be employed simultaneously by multiple users, enabling remote users to view the same photographs (44) on their computers (100 and 101) as they speak with each other via telephone.</p> |
