In FIG. 5, a rotor (221) has a sealing face (241) provided with a plurality of grooves (331) in which a sealing fluid can be held by counter-balanced centrifugal and pressure differential forces as the rotor (221) rotates to form a seal across the sealing face (241). In alternative embodiments the grooves (33) can be of constant width and/or not radially disposed. In a specific use, the sealing arrangement seals a vacuum in a milk concentrator.
