PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain excellent copying with the same reproduction effect as usual correction even when a video signal is again reproduced. SOLUTION: A signal recorded on a magnetic tape 61 through a detection means 61 subject to demodulation, error correction, decoding and variable length coding is given to a recording medium 4 via a switch 91 normally, in which the signal is newly subject to error correction coding and modulation and the result is recorded on a magnetic tape 50. In the case that one synchronizing signal among three synchronizing signal blocks having been recorded on the magnetic tape 51 is in error and cannot be detected, the synchronizing signal is replaced with part of an output from a delay circuit 90 and the switch 91 is selected so as to configure a 3-synchronizing signal block configuration.
