Installation for removing ammonia gas from ventilation air coming from stalls in intensive animal husbandry

The salt solution is maintained at a pH equal to or less than 7 by the addition of acid at a virtually constant degree of acidity. The quantity of concentrated acid washing fluid is circulated with an output of a minimum of 15 m3/10,000 m3 of animal stall air per hour. The amount of air processed by the air washing system is determined by the requirement for fresh air and the temperature in the stall. The required amount of acid is determined by the quantity and concentration of ammonia in the ventilation air. The material in the ventilation air to be removed is completely and the stall smell is virtually wholly absorbed in the washing system.
