PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a vulcanized rubber composition comprising a sulfur- vulcanized rubber and a specific amount of a substituted biscitraconamic acid (mixture), not producing an imide, unnecessary in a dehydration process requiring a labor and a cost, and excellent in a return-preventing property. SOLUTION: This rubber composition comprises a sulfur-vulcanized rubber such as natural rubber, a conjugated diene homo- or copolymer or a conjugated diene-aromatic vinyl compound copolymer and 0.1-10phr of a substituted biscitraconamic acid of formula I or II or their mixture. The rubber composition is preferably used in tires.
