PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light pulse train forming method capable of forming pulses of arbitrary time waveforms, and an apparatus therefor. SOLUTION: The light having frequency spectra of uniform frequency intervals is generated by using a semiconductor laser beam source 1, an optical intensity modulator 3 and zero diffusion fibers 6 (a) to 6 (f) and is separated to space spectra by a frequency separating filter 11. Prescribed attenuation is then applied on these light rays by each of the respective frequencies by a multichannel variable attenuation 12 and thereafter, the light rays are mixed by an optical mixer 13, thereby, the desired time waveforms are obtd. |
