1-(2-(Substd. vinyl))-5H-2,3-benzodiazepine derivs. of formula (I) and their acid addn. salts are new. A+B = =C=N or =CH-NH; R1 = Ph (opt. substd. by 2-3 OH or 1-3 halo, CF3, NO2, CN, NH2, mono- or di(1-3C alkyl)amino, 1-4C alkanoylamino, 1-4C alkyl, 1-4C alkoxy, COOH, 1-4C alkoxycarbonyl, 1-4C alkoxycarbonyloxy or methylenedioxy), or naphthyl (opt. substd. by OH, 1-4C alkoxy or 1-4C acyloxy), or furyl, thienyl or indolyl; R2 = H or 1-4C alkyl; R3, R4 = 1-4C alkoxy attached to positions 7 and 8; or R3 + R4 = 7,8 or 8,9-methylenedioxy.
