PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable reduction of fiber breakage and film breakage in melt- spinning, film-forming, etc., by baking magnesium hydroxide under specific conditions and compounding the baked magnesium hydroxide with a polyamide resin. SOLUTION: Magnesium hydroxide having <=7μm average particle diameter is based at 300-1500 deg.C for 0.5-20hr to afford a magnesium compound represented by the formula (MgO)x (Mg(OH)2 )1-x [(x) is a molar fraction and 0<x<1] and having <=500Åfine crystal size of MgO (wide angle X ray difraction). The magnesium compound in an amount of 0.01-2 pts.wt. is compounded with 100 pts.wt. polyamide resin having 1.5-5.0 relative viscosity (in 1g/dl concentration of 98wt.% conc. sulfuric acid at 25 deg.C).
