PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the continuous, efficient and advantageous cleaning of a heat exchanger from fine powder and further elimination of use of a gas cyclone separator in a recirculating stream, reduce the cost and continuously polymerize an olefin in the vapor phase. SOLUTION: When an olefin monomer selected from ethylene, propylene, a mixture thereof and a mixture of one or more otherα-olefins with the ethylene, propylene or the mixture of the ethylene with the propylene is converted into a polymer, a gaseous stream comprising the unreacted olefin monomer is continuously recovered from a reactor 9 and entrained in a catalyst and/or polymeric particles and the gaseous stream is continuously recirculated through a fluidized bed 11 of the reactor 9 in the presence of a polymerization catalyst under reactional conditions to cool at least a part of the gaseous stream recovered from the reactor 9 to a temperature for condensing the liquid with heat exchangers 15 and 17. At least a part of the condensed liquid is separated from the gaseous stream and at least a part of the separated liquid is directly introduced into the fluidized bed 11.
