Manufacture of foamed packaging materials

Process for manufacturing foamed products from a mixture of natural polymer (e.g. starch) and fibres (especially natural fibres) comprises preheating the mixture to a temperature below the hardening temperature of the polymer and then heating the mixture under pressure in a mould so that the polymer is hardened and crosslinked and the fibres extend through the product.
