PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the effect on reflection of an object near an active phased array antenna by measuring the received signal intensity of the polarized component of the incoming radio waves received by the antenna on the time division basis, and analyzing the received polarization information. SOLUTION: The phase difference between two phase shifters 2 of a set of element antennas 1 is set to 0,π,π/2, and -π/2, respectively, they are synthesized by a 2-synthesizer 3, and reception beams having the vertical polarization plane, horizontal polarization plane, dextrorotatory circular polarization plane, and levorotation circular polarization plane respectively are formed on the element antenna 1. The phase difference corresponding to the direction that the reception beam is desired to be directed is applied to the phase shifters 2, and phase differences are synthesized by a synthesizer 4 to form the reception beam having a narrow beam width in the desired direction. The polarization components are switched at every fixed time, the received signal intensity is measured by a receiver 5 on the time division basis, the intensity comparison process between the dextrorotatory circular polarization component and levorotation circular polarization component is made by a processor 6, and the polarization information including the type of polarization, elliptical polarization factor, and inclination of the polarization plane of the incoming radio waves is calculated.
