Bending press for use with metal plates, and metal sheets for light fittings in particular, presses the sheet with a male tool into the gap between two rollers which rest parallel to each other without bearings in an open recess; the rollers are thereby pressed down against the base and sides of the recess, and the metal plate is bent into a U or V-shape with the two sides at an acute angle to each other. At least the outer skins of the rollers yield elastically so that the male tool and plate are pressed into them when the former is forced between the rollers; during the process the distance between the two sides of the recess remains constant. Preferred material for the equipment are polyurethane for the rollers, polyamide for the recess block, and the same polymers for pre-bending equipment used.
