PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the operating threshold value of a solid microlaser and to raise the pumping efficiency of the solid microlaser by a method wherein a microlaser cavity is provided with a solid active medium, an input mirror and the like and the solid microlaser is provided with a cavity pumping means having at least a direct-axis cavity semiconductor laser. SOLUTION: A microlaser cavity 50 is constituted of an input mirror 52, an output mirror 54 and an active medium. The cavity 50 is pumped by a direct- axis cavity semiconductor layer 56. The laser 56 is constituted of a substrate 58, an input mirror 60, an output mirror 62 and an active region 64. The laser 56 emits a beam in the direction arranged within microlaser cavity axes AA' in the vertical direction to the region 64. The two elements are mechanically coupled with each other via spacers 66 and 68. |
