PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stop a rotor safely by slowly decelerating the rotation while supporting the rotor by the magnetic levitation during the stop of power supply after the power supply is discontinued, by supplying generated power occurring at a stator supporting a cylindrical rotor of a permanent magnet to other stators supporting other rotors. SOLUTION: A cylindrical permanent magnet rotor 12 and cylindrical reluctance or induction rotors 13 and 14 of are fixed to a rotating shaft 11; respective stators 16, 17 and 18 are fixed to a casing 10; and displacement sensors 15A, 15B and 15C, a rotation sensor 15N and a rotation angle sensor 15θare attached. Then, each of stators 16, 17 and 18 is equipped with a drive windings M0, M1 and M2 and position control windings m0, m1 and m2. Here, when the supply of power from the power source is interrupted during high speed rotation, the generated power at the stator 16 is supplied to the stators 17 and 18, the rotation speed is decelerated in a state where the rotors 12, 13 and 14 are supported by magnetic levitation and then the rotation is stopped.
