PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording and reproducing method for a magneto-optical recording medium capable of making a recording density additionally higher. SOLUTION: A light transparent layer 10 is adhered to a substrate 4 by packing a resin between a prescribed magneto-optical recording layer 5 formed on the signal pattern layer 5 of the substrate 4 and the light transparent layer 10 having 50 to 200[μm] thickness, then curing the resin, by which the recording or reproduction from the light transparent layer 10 side to the magneto-optical recording layer 5 is made possible. The aperture ratio of the objective lens on the light transparent layer 10 to be irradiated with a laser beam is thus made additionally higher, by which the recording density of the information is made additionally higher. In addition, a low magnetic field is usable as the external magnetic field to be impressed from the light transparent layer side to be irradiated with the laser beam.
