PURPOSE:To obtain high-quality images by providing an ink absorber, a means for bringing the absorber into contact with an ejecting surface of a recording head and separating the absorber from the ejecting surface, a means for squeezing the absorber, a means for preventing color mixing of absorbed inks, a means for preventing the ejecting surface from being dried, and a wiping means for the ejecting surface. CONSTITUTION:A squeezing driving motor 6 is made to serve also as a cap-driving motor, and an electromagnetic clutch is provided for switching between driving of a cap mechanism and driving of a squeezing mechanism. A driving force transmitted by the clutch is transmitted through a gear train 75-78 to a squeezing driving cam 79, the rotation of which is converted into a reciprocating motion of an arm 82. The arm 82 can perform a rectilinear motion along a pin 83 provided on a cap side plate, and the motion is transmitted further through a lever 84 to an ink absorber-squeezing member 5, which deforms an ink absorber 3 by pressing the absorber 3 against an absorber guide 7, whereby an ink is squeezed from the absorber 3 and dropped. The squeezing members for each color are connected by a connecting bar 86, and the driving is transmitted simultaneously for all colors. The driving force of the motor 60 is also transmitted to an arm 92, whereby a blade 88 is rotted on a shaft 94. It is thereby possible to achieve stable ejection of the ink from an ejecting port of a recording head. |
