PURPOSE: A power supply apparatus for protecting a communication interface IC(integrated circuit) of a vehicle is provided to prevent the application of a reverse surge voltage from a communication interface IC. CONSTITUTION: A power supply apparatus for protecting a communication interface IC comprises a battery(10), an ignition switch(20) and a diode(D1). With on operation of the ignition switch, DC voltage is supplied to a communication interface IC from a battery(10) by passing through a connector(30), the diode and a power supply terminal(VB). With intermittent off operation of the ignition switch, power from the battery is cut off and power supply to the communication interface IC is stopped. A reverse surge voltage of -60V generated during switching is cut off by the diode at the rear end of the connector. Thereby, a microcomputer(40) is prevented from breakage due to the reverse surge voltage.
