PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition which has excellent partial discharge prevention by containing an insulating substance, electric conductivity-imparting material and silicon carbide and setting the value of resistance in a specific range. SOLUTION: This composition comprises (A) an insulating substance (preferably chlorosulfonated polyethylene or butyl rubber or their mixture), (B) a conductivity-imparting material and (C) silicon carbide and has a value of resistance ranging from 1MΩ/10cm to 100MΩ/10cm. In addition, this composition can give a conductive coating material by admixing a suitable organic solvent to the composition. Thus, the partial discharge test of CV cables can be readily done by using this composition to effect terminal treatment.
