PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air fuel ration sensor which has a simple drive circuit and is easy to manufacture. SOLUTION: An air fuel ratio sensor includes an insulation layer 13, two solid electrolyte layers 12, 14 composed of porous composite ceramic having electrodes 11a, 15a disposed in both the faces of the insulation layer 13 and provided in the side of the insulation layer 13 and other electrodes 11b, 15b provided in the reverse side of the electrodes 11a, 15a, and a dispersion barrier 16 composed of the porous composite ceramic disposed so as to cover the electrode 15b. A linear air fuel ratio signal is obtained only by regulation of pumping current for reference oxygen partial pressure. Thus, the sensor has simple principle, and a constitution circuit is simple. Furthermore, since the composition of the dispersion barrier and the solid electrolyte layer is same, production of cracks is reduced and service life is extended. |
