PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image superior in stability and capable of rapid processing and high in contrast and superior in graininess by bringing the specified silver halide photographic sensitive material into close contact with a fluorescent sensitizing paper composed essentially of yttrium tantalate type fluorescent material and exposed them to X-rays. SOLUTION: The silver halide photographic esensitive material containing silver halide grains having a volume average grain diameter of <=0.7μm and a peak wavelength of spectral sensitivity of <=500nm in a silver halide emulsion layer is brought into close contact with the fluorescent sensitizing paper composed essentially of the yttrium tantalate type fluorescent material to expose them to X-rays. This photosensitive material has a silver attached amount of <=4.5g/m<2> and if it exceeds 4.5g/m<2> , processing after photogenerating takes too long time, and a consumption of a processing solution increases too much, and if the average grain diameter of the silver halide grains is greater than 0.7μm, the covering power of developed silver becomes small and image density is lowered, thus permitting rapid processing not to be performed.
