JOB ASSIGNMENT METHOD IN PARALLEL PROCESSING METHOD AND PARALLEL PROCESSING METHOD

A method for assigning a job to each processor with high efficiency when a parallel processing is performed by using a parallel computer composed of a host computer and processors interconnected through a common bus. Jobs such that the ratio between the communication time and the calculation time is larger than a predetermined value or a fraction of the processor and jobs su ch that the ratio between the communication time and the calculation time is smaller than the predetermined value or a fraction of the processor are alternately assigned to each processor. Alternatively the jobs related to th e processors are separated into groups in such a way that jobs having similar sizes composed of the communication time and calculation time and similar ratios between the communication time and the calculation time belong to different job groups respectively. The jobs are so assigned the order of assignment of jobs having similar communication time and calculation time in their job groups are different.
