PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a thermal head for preventing a foreign matter from being caught in partial glaze and not lowering the head pressure of the partial glaze and to enhance image quality by preventing the generation of line voids, irregularity and roughness. SOLUTION: In a thermal head 23 wherein partial glaze protruding in an almost circular arc cross-sectional shape is provided on a recording material opposing surface S, the radius of curvature of the heater part 26 on the partial glaze 25 is set to 50mm or less and the height from the recording material opposing surface S of the partial glaze 25 is set to 40μm or less. Further, the height from the recording material opposing surface S of the partial glaze may be set low on the upstream side of the feed direction of a recording material as compared with the downstream side of the feed direction thereof.
