PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the image quality of reproduced images of respective display devices superior, even when a picked-up image is displayed at a display device having differentγ-characteristics. SOLUTION: The digital camera is equipped with an LCD display part 10 for monitoring a subject image, an image signal inputted by a CCD 303 before shutter releasing is corrected by aγ-correcting circuit to 1stγ-characteristics (γ=0.45), and the corrected image signal is monitored at the LCD display part 10. An image signal, inputted by the CCD 303 when the shutter is released, is corrected by theγ-corrected circuit to a 2ndγ-characteristics (γ=0.55), and the corrected image signal is recorded on an IC card 18. Thus, theγ- characteristics are changed according to the object of reproduction to the LCD display part 10 for a picked-up image or a display device other than the LCD display part 10 to enable reproducing images with image quality suitable for the respective display devices.
