PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure the tooth face shape of a gear dresser having a cemented carbide material attached by applying the constitution that the radius of the surface of a tooth flank measurement probe for measuring the shape of the tooth face of a gear dresser is formed to satisfy a specific condition. SOLUTION: This measurement probe 1 is kept in contact and made to move along the tooth face of a gear dresser having a cemented carbide abrasive layer formed on surface out of cemented carbide abrasives fixed via a binder, thereby measuring the shape of the tooth face. A diamond sintered body 2 is fixed to the probe 1 and the contact surface 3 thereof is formed to have the prescribed curvature. In other words, the radius r. of the surface 3 is formed to satisfy the expression of r0 >[(r+d/2)/cos(tan<-1>μ]-r, where (r) stands for the effective diameter of the cemented carbide abrasive of the gear dresser, (d) for the maximum breadth of the binder of the gear dresser and (μ) for a friction factor between the tooth face and the contact surface 3. According to this construction, an inconvenience for disabling the measurement of gear curves with the end of the measurement probe 1 caught by the cemented carbide abrasives, can be avoided.
