OPTICAL FIBER ARRAY AND OPTICAL WAVEGUIDE MODULE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to reduce the size over the entire part without decreasing the number of branching of an optical waveguide module by setting the spacing between the optical waveguides on one end side larger than the spacing between the optical waveguides on the other end side. SOLUTION: An optical fiber array 10 is held between a pair of substrates 2 in the state of curving the central parts of respective optical fibers 1 in such a manner that the spacings between the optical fibers (optical waveguides) 1 on the one end side and the spacings between the optical fibers (optical waveguides) 1 on the other end side vary from each other. The branch type optical waveguides 11 of the optical waveguide module formed by combining such optical fiber array 10 an the branch type optical waveguides 11 are merely necessitated to widen the spacings between the optical waveguides so as to correspond to the respective optical fibers 1 on the side where the spacings between the optical fibers 1 are narrow in the optical fiber array 10. Then, the length and width over the entire part of the branch type optical waveguides 11 may be reduced.
