摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an adaptation to a high speed and dispersion compensation by combining OTDM for a high speed and a prechirping for a dispersion compensation. SOLUTION: A clock generation means 6 generates first and second optical clocks 8#1 and 8#2 and second signal beams 14#1 and 14#2 with a carrier beam 4 through fist and second data modulation means 10#1 and 10#2. They are outputted to an optical transmission line 18 by a multiplexer 16 as OTDM signals 20. A prechirping means 22 controls one of the beam 4, the clocks 8, the beams 14 and the signals 20 so that the signals 20 have scheduled chirp parameters. Since the clocks 8#1 and 8#2 are in a complementary relation, a phase difference between the beams 14#1 and 14#2 becomes π. The beams 14#1 and 14#2 do not collide each other and are bit-multiplexed on & the time base. Consequently, the signals 20 are RZ-encoded. Since a device can be constituted only by light in a band which is the half of the bit rate of the final signal 20 and by an electric device, speed can easily be made high.
