PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper-coating composition for coated paper which can improves the quality of the coated paper, for example, imparting a high degree of ink receptivity and water resistance to the paper. SOLUTION: This composition contains a pigment and water-based binder as well as a resin component containing crosslinked amine by reaction of an aliphatic amine, an aldehyde, a glycidyl compound and an isocyanate where the resin component can further a water-soluble resin prepared by reaction of three components at least selected from an alkylenediamine and polyalkylenepolyamine, a urea and a crosslinkable compound selected from aldehyde, epihalohydrin,α,γ-dihalo-β-hydrin, a glycidyl compound and an isocyanate.
