PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device which can be mounted on desired positions of opposing wall surfaces and converts a downward force due to the gravity of load applied to a load receiving member into a force depressing the wall surfaces by a wedge action, where the force is increased proportionally to the increase in the load, in a shelf for holding articles or a bar on which articles are hung, bracing, a curtain rail, and the like for instance. SOLUTION: This device is given slopes 2 inclined downward by an angleθon both sides of a load receiving member 1. Slopes 4 inclined upward by the same angleθare also formed at supporting members 3, 3a held on both wall surfaces A, correspondingly to the slopes 2 of the load receiving member 1, and the component force of the load is converted into a force depressing the wall surfaces A by a wedge action of forcing the slopes 2 of the load receiving member 1 to contact the slopes 4 of the supporting members 3, 3a for placement.
