DIMENSIONALLY STABLE THROAT INSERT OF ROCKET THRUSTER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dimensionally stable throat insert and manufacture and using method therefor. SOLUTION: A throat insert 12 of a thruster rocket engine having a thin shell 54 made of an oxidation resistance material with high strength is disclosed. The shell has a throat 48 of reduced cross section and an annular stiffening ring 60 which is located at the throat and extends in the radial direction. A casing 56 which is made of a material having heat conductivity which is at least 10 times as much as heat conductivity of the shell 54 is casted on the external surface 58 of the shell 54 and the casing 56 has a roughly cylindrical external surface 59. The shell 54 stands breakdown and oxidation caused by the extreme temperature of a rocket fuel combustion product passing the throat insert 12 and the casing 56 acts so as to efficiently transfer heat from the shell 54.
