PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a crystal form new herpes protease as a protease of a herpes virus in the crystal form, useful for treatment, etc., for viral diseases caused by a virus of family Herpes and other diseases having catalyst domain which may be same as the domain of family herpes. SOLUTION: This new protease is a crystal form herpes virus protease, etc., of herpes HSV-2 protease with and without a ligand, HSV-1 protease, CMV protease or VZV protease. The proteases have three-dimensional catalyst parts composed of three amino acid residues of Ser, His and His. The HSV-2 protease is obtained by expressing HSV-2 protease including 19 additional residue (+SEKFKIWGAESAPHHHHHH) on alanine at the C end, and cleaving the peptide bond between the alanine at the C end and Ser of the first additional residue. |
