PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the cost, speed, quality, reliability and power utilization of an ink jet printing system and simplify its structure and action and consequently enhance its durality by a method wherein surface tension reducing agent is supplied to addressed ink particles so as to cause a difference in meniscus position between non-addressed ink particles and the addressed ink particles. SOLUTION: The selection of ink particles is done through the physical adhesion of surface tension reducing agent such as the vapour 54 as surfactant onto a meniscus 50. This supply is done through the surfactant channel 48 for each orifice 46. The molecules evaporated from the surfactant 52 in the channel 48 near surfactant heaters 56 moves in vapour to the meniscus 50 and condenses there. The surfactant adhered onto the meniscus 50 takes away the balance between the surface tension for intending to detain the ink particles within it and the pressure of ink intending to push the ink particles out. The ink particles, the meniscus 50 of each of which projects, are brought in the state addressed for printing. |
